It is deliberate that you can't. And it's the same reason there's no private messaging.

Because a large number of people here are children, all comments are deliberately "in the open" so that I can moderate them. If I allowed you to delete threads, it opens up the possibility that someone can bully people and delete the thread before I see it.

Sure, I could make it so that the thread appears to be deleted but still visible to me. But really I'd prefer to take actions myself when necessary. I have learned that if there is a way to abuse things, people will find it.

Fr, I feel the same I wish we could delete threads sometimes but honestly it makes sense when you think about it. Its all to help keep the younger users safe and the community drama free.
